I’m done with all my holiday shopping. Actually, I finished it last weekend.
And I ended up taking the Handmade Pledge. Every single present I bought (with the exception of two items from ebay) I purchased on etsy.com. And I couldn’t be more thrilled with my presents. They are more personal, more unique. And I felt so good buying them.
I didn’t have to go into a store, or even worse, the mall. I didn’t have to compare prices of popular items between multiple big box online stores. Instead, I spent hours and hours last weekend looking through the wonderful things people make at home, while trying not to buy stuff for myself in the process.
Let me just say how blown away I am by everything on etsy.com. Jo and I have plans to buy all our child’s toys from there (no worry about lead paint and plastic crap). I see my earring collection growing in the near future, and I might even have to starting buying myself necklaces and bracelets.
P.S. We received 3 etsy purchases today from 3 different sellers. They were all so lovingly are carefully packaged, and the items were even more beautiful then they were online. The people who are getting them will be so happy!

I’m trying to make some of my own this year, but you and others have inspired me to shop etsy as well. and what’s up with the baby talk – are y’all planning?
In an ideal world (that will probably never exist) I would have time to knit all my own holiday presents! Sweaters and matching scarfs/gloves for everyone! But, that isn’t happening (I don’t even have time to finish the scarf for myself I started knitting weeks ago), so buying other people’s handmade stuff is as close as I can come!
Yeah… we’re planning… but not until we move back to the east coast. Until then we just love to admire babies and baby stuff. We’ve stopped just short of starting to buy stuff!
