I’m still in Maine. Sadly, I leave to head back to Cowtown tomorrow. But despite the yucky rainy weather we had here last week, Maine pulled through for me just in time– we’re having a beautiful nor’easter today.
So I’m spending the day next to the woodstove, hanging out with mom and dad, looking out at the beautiful snow piling up on pine trees. It couldn’t be better.
And something else makes Maine stand out among against at least one other northern state (that shall remain nameless).
The simply amazing job they do plowing.
In the first 4 hours of snowfall they plowed my parents’ dead end street twice. It hasn’t even stopped snowing yet, but they’ve kept the little road mostly clear.
This is so shocking to my system because the dead end road that I live on in that state I won’t name, doesn’t get plowed until hours after it finishes snowing. Sometimes 12 hours after, sometimes never. Usually we have to call and remind the city to do it. And even when they finally plow it is so late after the storm that they leave huge mounds of snow all over the road. And when they eventually plow the main roads, they are in such bad shape that the plows rip up big chunks of road and make tremendous potholes.
I don’t know why this other northern state doesn’t take some tips from Maine. I know no place is perfect at plowing, but some places clearly have a better grip on it than others.
It will be sad to leave Maine tomorrow!

I live in the state of Masshole, and they also suck at plowing, they do not start until too late and they leave snow on the road (im not sure how they manage to do this)
I love sitting by the woodstove, im so jealous, im sitting here in my oven of an apartment…
