The last few days have just been really nice. Just simply enjoying a few days might not be notable, but it actually is, as I feel like I’ve spent the last year or so learning how to really let myself relax and have fun.*
First off, the snow on Friday just really made me happy. I [...]

I knit a hat on Sunday. To get back into the swing of knitting I bought gorgeous new yarn pictured to the left (malabrigo in “autumn forest”). The yarn is super-soft and the colorway is just beautiful (although what I have has less orange in it than this picture shows). I made a basic hat [...]
heading to Boston

It is beautifully sunny here today. I’m sure this stands in sharp contrast to Madison’s weather. Later on this afternoon my parents are driving me to Boston to spend the weekend with my brother. We are spending tomorrow in Salem (where he works) and then Saturday and Sunday in Boston. I’ll take lots of pictures. [...]

Evidence that Maine, specifically Portland, is a very cool place came to me from Islander today. She found this store in Portland, and it made her think of me and my blog. I know exactly where it is, so I’ll have to check it out when I am in Maine this June.
I love the sign [...]

Confession: I haven’t been knitting much. I have a bunch of works-in-progress that haven’t advanced too far recently. Why? Well, I usually knit by TV/movie (either watching myself, or just hanging out with Jo while she watches). Since getting wireless, and since having tons of non-writing work to do (databases, websites etc…) I have been [...]
thinking about my orange cardigan
Posted in knitting on Thursday, July 22, 2004 | 2 Comments »
This morning I decided to work on a neglected WIP (for those non-knitting folks that means “work in progress”). I ripped out the cuffs of the sleeves on a shrug I made for Jo. The cuffs came out too tight, and I wanted to make them longer. So, I actually worked on it. For the [...]

*traveling to Maine and NYC I am going to make my Peace FleeceEveryday Cardigan (a wonderful hippie name & company just for my friend em’s sake).
My next 2 [...]

For all you knitting folks out there…
I found this amazing blog of free knitting patterns. You could spend hours going through it. I am going to stop now, though. I downloaded a bunch to print out. Its better than spending money on a knitting book!
There are some great ones… and there are some seriously ugly [...]
Kill Bill

I watched the movie Kill Bill last night with Jo and Goldie. I really liked this movie. I’m surprised- well maybe I’m not surprised. I also loved Pulp Fiction. I don’t usually like a lot of blood and gore- but the blood and gore in Kill Bill was hysterically funny.
I’m very excited that I am [...]

I just emailed some of my NY pals to let them know I’ll be in NYC the weekend of June 19th. Very exciting- I haven’t been back since we moved and I miss my friends there terribly. The trip works out well at the end of my trip to Maine. I am going to fly [...]

- I've almost finished a shrug for Jo. Well, it is finished, but she wants to cuffs looser- so I am going to frog them and rework them with no decrease stitches. I'm making this with a marigold colored Donegal Tweed on size 8 needles.
- I am also nearly done with my hooded sweater. I [...]
